My am transmitter was made with a kit from the science museum, the first time I heard a signal traveling across a room, sounds like he was making these transmitters up in his bedroom, he got quite dizzy one time must of been high power into the aerial next to his head, mum was into but dad wasn’t usual story, problablty almost as interesting as what went in 39 bannerman road in the sarah jane adventures. :D

Interesting it does fill in some gaps, he was getting lower power transmitters mail order then amplifying them, maybe they could of been bugs? went to a library to research them. I am often still mystified by how pirates got transmitters when there was no real internet to speak of, specially in places like Sheffield, I suppose its were I used to hear a lot of stations from, you did wonder about them.
Veronica fm was there, I though it was me ordering little kits, alot of the stuff I think was too low power, I think they did have stuff for 10w rsl stations, I got the impression it was abit to expensive to buy from them though, they maybe had someone build them it, so this was all very interesting. He did make transmitters for stations in London I guess, as they started loosing more he’d not put them boxes, it does sound like the quailty of his were good, even he did have spend less money on them.

Maybe the case of the transmitter in a water tank with the water been used as heatsink is a case for carrie from mythbusters to solve, maybe it was strapped to the side of it some how? I don’t know how big water tank is on top, I was thinking of people inside it, some kind of hot tub, the transmitter floating up and down in the water, with summer girls by lfo playing in the backround 8-) :D if water got into the water proof bag it could turn into a bathbomb

Thanks for sharing great video, I wonder if Pyers is on here under another name Maybe ? Maybe he is Albert ? Or Albert knows him.
Sounds quite risky for water ingress, must have been a secure way of sealing them off 100pct, maybe dip them in some kind of wax or
melted plastic stuff. Balloons ?
The dial is Glowing 88-108 , spin the wheel to light those Red LEDs , see signal needle rise.

"Fake news" is when something completely untrue is presented as true. The originator of the term is the very definition of the term itself.

I put questions marks in my post, that's a very important distinction worth noting. Might as well be crystal clear about these matters when people are making a point about them.

Pyers looks like he is Tony Blackburn's brother, seperated at birth and ended up in the same line of work ?

It made me laugh when he said about bolting the p.a to the metal water tank.

I am just wondering if that is why they seem to always be made from plastic these days

I don't think Albert is Pyers lol. He always posts about working for the BBC in the 70s and just off the timeline in the vid Pyers must have been a teenager then at most. Albert must be a decade older than Pyers

That said the stories about Pye Pocketfones as band 4 links and bolting rigs to water tanks are suspiciously similar
