Skyline 94.2 (London)
Was this 1990s station anything to do with the Skyline 94.2 in the west Midlands or is it pure coincidence?
....Is Skyline W Mids still active?

They were on a few years ago, remember going to see a friend in Cannock and they were scanning around FM and we found Kriss, Distinct, Irie and Skyline. Think they have long since gone though, when I heard them it was back in 2011teckniqs wrote:Was this 1990s station anything to do with the Skyline 94.2 in the west Midlands or is it pure coincidence?

Yeah that's about the last sort of time I remember hearing it, was very strong further north of Brum up around Wolverhampton.
Re: Skyline 94.2 (London)
They are still going and have been on pretty much constantly since 1989 with the odd break after studio raids. I think this makes them the longest running pirate in the country? They seem pretty low power at the moment, just covering Wolverhampton really.
Kriss are still going too. Distinct and Irie have been replaced with a station called Vibez FM. In Birmingham, Sting, Hot 92, Silk City are still going, with Genesis popping up occasionally too. Weekend station called Buzz on 103.4 heard recently. But really, it's all pretty dull these days...

I was visiting Cricklewood electronics some years ago and there were a huge number of fire engines and police cars blocking the traffic up towards the end where McDonalds is. As it turned out Skyline (London) 94.2 had a huge double stack on one of the shops there which has given way and fallen right in to the middle of Cricklewood broadway.
Chortle.

I remember picking up a station called Control.net in the car one lunchtime at work about 3 years ago on this dial. The signal wasn't that good though.

Yeah it's not running any more, used to come from Dunstable Downs and had extremely good coverage going north.

It only lasted a day or two, dipole halfway up the cell site, we didn't want to climb any higher without a harnessteckniqs wrote:Yeah it's not running any more, used to come from Dunstable Downs and had extremely good coverage going north.

I thought I saw a straight antenna on top of the mast, didn't see any dipoles. It was on a lot longer than a day or two....

Ah they did take my advice then! I remember going to the site with the management from Mystery on a little recky mission, didn't set anything up as my knowledge power wise isn't great. My attitude is to go big or go home, not sure if the management are still knocking around would be good to speak to him. Only recall getting an angry phone-call from the management asking if i let anything slip which i obviously didn't. Pretty sure it was just weekend only, but yeah never found out what happened to it wether it was thieves/com.
