I hate how commercial radio jocks say pirates are run by drug gangs! That isn't the case, stations run at a loss and any money they do make from sub's and raves goes straight back into the station to run it.

Really is a shame they cant form their own opinions and do some proper investagative journalism instead of listening to OfCom.dancemusicdj wrote:they would have been told what to say. ofcom brief them with the propagandist nonsense and away they goSparki wrote:I hate how commercial radio jocks say pirates are run by drug gangs! Re: raid extreme fm
It's quite funny really considering some of the biggest names on commercial radio and licensed stations originally were pirates!
It just goes to show that since pirate radio ever began the huge commercial radio stations like the BBC etc have wanted a piece of the action setting up stations and recruiting pirate radio DJ's/formats etc (still to this day).
Both BBC Radio Radio 1 and 1Xtra were started because of the huge influence that pirate radio plays to the scene!
....Back in the Radio Caroline/Luxembourg days the BBC got jealous and set up Radio 1, then you've got all these FM stations in London bringing out the likes of 1Xtra with a London pirate style sound.
Then you've got the one of the biggest stations in London Kiss 100 which is ex-pirate handed a massive 2kW of power, Jackie with their 800w and all these other ex-pirate stations scattered around London. Just shows how much of a need there is for it and how success and good can easily be achieved by it!
