Are you sure its only meant to be a relay for Reading? That would also be why Station fm 89.8 is so hard to get on the west side of London?

It looks to serve Reading and the surrounding towns in Berkshire and Hampshire.famefm wrote:Are you sure its only meant to be a relay for Reading? That would also be why Station fm 89.8 is so hard to get on the west side of London?
Here's a very old coverage map a Google search brought up...

Back in the early 90,s you could pick up station 89.8 in Reading so the BBC must have got the freq,s later

Yeah it's one of those awkward places over lapping Oxford, London and Isle Of Wight TX's when all 3 of those services are no doubt a bit patch driving around the centre so a relay was imminent.

Re: Slam Radio 92.0
I lived in reading in the 1980/s and I was lucky Radio 4 hadn't got the 94.4 fm transmitter yet otherwise I would never had heard horizon radio on 94.5 after solar radio took over their 102.5 fm slot after horizon closed down in September 1985 to apply for a license that never happened in December 1985 fame fm came on with some of horizons DJs but it only lasted 4 months
