Old lnb

Post by House & garage lover » Tue Dec 08, 2015 7:27 am

Came across one of these bad boys whilst clearing out my garage. Are they any good for long distance linking?
Is it these ones or the old blue cap ones that can be converted into a horn?

That's just a standard LNB, is it a Cambridge Industries??

....It's the Amstrad blue caps you want, usually in white or black case as shown.
There's an old dish on a house a few doors from me but it's up on their chimney so they can keep it. :D

I had a look a these a while ago. I heard that certain Cambridge LNBs could be modified and having had a look inside my Cambridge LNB, which is the same model as the one you've shown, they are well laid out. I think that the Cambridge would make a good candidate for conversion, however your chances of finding a guide to do this are miniscule.

The one from the first post was perfect for conversion. I made some 90 a 120km links with it...

Yep it's a Cambridge enhanced 9.70 LO lnb (for when Astra 1D was launched).
The 10 ghz LO blue caps are good until birds peck away at the cap and water gets in.

Ok thanks for the info guys, I would of loved to have saved it going to waste and tried to convert it into a horn but I might try to use it on a long distance link project instead (if it still works) il have to keep my eyes open for the old blue caps so cheers for the heads up teckniqs.

Are they unused? I'd be interested in a couple of them if so!
